For a trail run or mountain race, understanding the elevation profile of your route is crucial. Segly’s elevation segmentation feature allows you to automatically identify uphills, downhills, and flat sections.
Why segment by gradient?
Each type of terrain places different demands on your body. A steep 15% climb isn’t run the same way as a 3% slight incline. By identifying these zones, you can:
- Plan your pace segment by segment
- Estimate your split times
- Identify the course’s most challenging sections on the steepest slopes
How to use gradient segmentation on Segly
After importing your track, select the “Segmentation by Grade” mode. Set your thresholds (e.g., uphill if grade > 5%, downhill if grade < -5%) and run the analysis.
You’ll immediately see a color-coded map and detailed statistics for each segment.
